Two hours each. This open level workshop will focus on designing improvisational scores in dance and/or music. Participants will experiment with dancing and playing music simultaneously within a group. While following (or not following) these scores of ideas, melodies, gestures, jokes, each other, etc., the objective is to find new ways of moving and playing music. The idea is to have fun, create original movement and music, and augment improvisational skills while in a group. No music or dance background necessary.
Mud. Blood. Maypoles, white surf and hand claps. Shall we say it started on broadway? In a penthouse. In a big room where three hours are squeezed into five minutes. But who is counting anyway? We count teeth instead. We could stay here all day and all night. Counting backwards and in slow motion. Something happens when we say SKINT. The sounds turn into movements and the movements into sounds. Then does the SKINT occur. Have you ever put a button on it? Remind yourself how to and press it. Open your legs and do a back bend while strumming a guitar. Or not. Let it happen instead.
(SKINT is Busy Gangnes, Jessie Gold, Elizabeth Hart and Emily Powers)
