Experiments in Performance Environments
Saturday 1-4pm, March 12 at The Chocolate Factory
This class is an experiment about the environments we can make for performances. This class is also an all hands on deck collaborative creation. We will make little tinny moments using light and whatever else is on hand, clothing, paper, chairs, sounds. These will be rough little sketches of emotions or feelings or space. These terrariums of performance will be more like installations then dances.
We will talk about how the environment of performance is shaped with lights, costumes, the power of color, making choices and not choices. As well as the collaborative relationship between the technical and artistic. Please bring questions and dress ups.
Madeline Best, designs dances, installations, lighting and video and is the Production Manager at the Chocolate Factory Theater, she also works freelance as a Stage Manager and Lighting Supervisor. Best graduated from Bennington College, grew up in Durham NC and currently
