Sensing and Engaging; Elements and Flesh
This structure offers a guided exploration of the elements and energies within and around our bodies. How can we shift our intention and physical experience toward qualities of groundedness, lightness,
fluidity and heat radiation, to become more alive? How can we engage in our movement explorations and with our surroundings, seeking greater attention to detail? I will lead us through an embodied
exploration of the four elements of earth, air, water and fire, using imagery, movement patterns, sensory work and ambulation through the space. I am also interested in finding clarity and specificity in our movement, as these states of energy yield direction and pathways. Guided Improvisation and some movement patterns will be the basic structure for the class, leaving room for play in performing scores for one another, culminating movement phrases and anything else juicy that emerges. We will live and move in these states fully and presently as we tune into the space around us, integrating a balance of body and mind, oneness with the room, and opening to the unknown.
